Seven years, one dodgy apartment, a few questionable first impressions and a love story neither of them saw coming.

It all began by chance, seven years ago at Macalister Brewing Company in Cairns. The attraction was... questionable. Matthew thought Jacob was arrogant, while Jacob thought Matthew was pretentious. Not exactly the stuff of fairytales.

After a few too many beers, Jacob needed a lift home and asked Matthew to drop him at the dodgy apartment complex he was living in at the time. Matthew agreed, only to practically kick him out of the car when they arrived. It would take a bit longer for stars to align.

Two years later, fate had another crack at bringing them together. Both ended up on a dive trip to Lady Elliot Island, where they became great mates. Over the next six months, Matthew developed an uncanny habit of showing up wherever Jacob happened to be. It took Jacob six months to realise that perhaps Matthew was interested in something more than friendship. Some love stories take time - and some people need a few extra clues.

Their first date was at Little Sister in Cairns. Matthew talked a lot that night. Something sparked between them because six weeks later, Jacob decided it was time to make it official. Matthew was given three options about a future together: yes, no, maybe. He chose wisely.

Since then, they have travelled the world together, renovated Matthew's villa and brought their first home together - a big, old Queenslander that they affectionally call 'Lady Elliot'. There's always another project, a decision about plants or a reason to visit Cairns Hardware, but it's a home they are building together in every sense of the word.

And then there's September 1. A date that has become rather special. It marks the anniversary of the day they officially started dating, the day their home settled, and the day Jacob proposed to Matthew. It will also be the day they elope and exchange their vows at the end of their street.

On 10 September 2027, Matthew and Jacob want to bring their favourite people together in beautiful Port Douglas to celebrate the next chapter. Having exchanged their vows privately, they'll gather with friends and family to raise a glass, make some memories, and party well into the night.

From a less-than-impressive first encounter to a life filled with travel, laughter, renovations and love. They found each other, and now they can't wait to celebrate with all of you.
